Livigno is a beautiful town situated in the north of Italy at an altitude of 1800 m. It is a typical alpine village covered by snow 7 months a year. It is an ideal and renowned tourist resort for a lot of people. People who love winter sports choose Livigno because they can find snow from November to April and wonderful tracks and ski slopes most part of the year. In Livigno you can practise many winter sports: cross country skiing, snowboard, telemark, downhill and freestyle. A lot of international competitions take place in Livigno too. Every year the "Sgambeda", an international cross-country marathon 40 km long in the built-up area opens the winter season. The "Sgambeda" is characterised by warm atmosphere, lots of supporters, enthusiasm and fans. More than 1300 competitors take part in the competition.

If you like cross-country skiing Livigno is the perfect choice since you can find easy and difficult tracks and you can choose both styles.

Snowboarders can enjoy a lot in a snowpark with half pipe and jumps. You can even try telemark, the old style of skiing. Every year Livigno organises the "Skieda", a ski event which promotes this sport. It is very beautiful and unusual since skiers wear typical old clothes.

Since snow is the main element in Livigno, a miniature village entirely made of snow and ice has been built this year. It is a park where some artists have moulded cubes of ice and where you can find an information point concerning Livigno.
